COVID-19 Protocols

We are committed to providing our patients with excellence in eye care and eye wear while making the many changes that are required to ensure that your experience in our practice is as safe as possible. We continue to monitor the recommended guidelines from Public Health Ontario and the College of Optometrists of Ontario and we will update our office procedures as needed.

What to expect at your next visit:

To maintain physical distancing, we are limiting the number of people in the office at any time. Our front door will be locked, with access given only to patients with scheduled appointments. Please arrive on time for your appointment. We respect your time and are doing our very best to stay on schedule.

When you arrive, please remain in the car (or on the sidewalk if you didn’t come by car) until our team member has communicated with you (by text or by phone) and arranged for you to come in and sanitize your hands and phone.

All patients must wear a mask for their appointment. As a reminder, it is important to avoid touching your mask at any time.

COVID-19 screening questions will be asked before your appointment and again when you arrive at the office. Please know that these are the same questions we ask ourselves before we start each day at work. If you do not pass the COVID-19 screening, we will guide you toward next steps. A contactless temperature check will be done when you arrive at the office.

We have added a pre-appointment form to collect important information that your doctor will review for your visit. The form will be emailed to you and must be completed at least 24 hours before your appointment. Physical distancing requirements mean that we have to be very careful about how much time we spend together in a closed space so we have added this new step to be sure that we can continue to provide the thorough, personalized care that our patients are used to.

Our advanced technology instruments (the Optomap Daytona Ultra- widefield retinal imaging device and the Topcon Maestro Optical Coherence Tomographer) have become even more critical in our doctors’ ability to safely assess and monitor your eye health at this time. Your doctor will determine the specific imaging tests that are appropriate for your visit and we will advise you of the applicable fees.

Payment for your eye care and eye wear can be made on our new contactless payment system. Please make sure we have your up-to -date email address to send you your invoice records.

We have done extensive training on infection control during our closure and have stepped up our usual standard of infection controls to meet and exceed the requirements set by the College of Optometrists of Ontario. Our team members will be smiling at you behind their masks and will be adding gloves and safety protective eyewear for many parts of your visit.

Although it is trickier to communicate while we are wearing masks and maintaining physical distance, we want to assure you that we have gone to great lengths to make sure that we are providing you with the same standard of care that you are used to from our team.
